Michel de Nostredame or famously called as Nostradamus was a French apothecary who published collections of prophecies ranging from different time zones. “Les Propheties” (The Prophecies) is the name of the book where most of his works are seen and came to public in 1555. Nostradamus structured all his works into four-lined prose in his book. The works were collected into a group of 100 which are known as “quatrains”. Some have differently interpreted the works of Nostradamus whereas few have appreciated his works. Many of his prose have become true as the time has proceeded. Some of his famous predictions are JFK and RFK assassination, twin tower attack, Second World War and the death of John F. Kennedy Jr.
Here are the 10 greatest predictions of Nostradamus that came true:
10. Charles de Gaulle
“Hercules King of Rome and of Annemark,
Three times one surnamed de Gaulle will lead,
Italy and the one of St Mark to tremble,
First monarch, renowned above all.”
This is another prediction by Nostradamus with accurate prediction of name. Charles de Gaulle was three times the leader of France. He was the first president of the French Fifth Republic, leader of the Free French Forces and the prime minister of the post WWII government.
9. JFK & RFK Assassinations
“The great man will be struck down in the day by a thunderbolt,
An evil deed foretold by the bearer of a petition.
According to the prediction, another falls at night time.
Conflict at Reims, London and a pestilence in Tuscany.“
In 1963, John F Kennedy received numerous death threats. The great man was assassinated on Nov 22, 1963. Here “thunderbolt” refers to assassination; “petition” refers to death threats and “great man” as JFK. On June 5, 1968, Bobby Kennedy was killed after midnight. The entire world was mourning. Here “another” is referred to as Bobby Kennedy; “falls at night time” refers to the gunning down of Bobby Kennedy after midnight. The last sentence refers to the mourning of the entire world.
8. Prediction About Napoleon
“PAU, NAY, LORON will be more of fire than of the blood,
To swim in praise, the great one to flee to the confluence.
He will refuse entry to the Piuses,
The depraved ones and the Durance will keep them imprisoned.”
This is one of the most famous predictions of Nostradamus. He accurately predicted the name with the words PAU, NAY and LORON. The three words are the three towns in Southern France. When these three words are rearranged, it forms “Napaulon Roy” or Napoleon the King in French.
King Napoleon was referred to as “more of fire than of the blood” referring to Napoleon’s non-noble lineage. He imprisoned the “Piuses” (Popes Pius VI and Pius VII).
7. Death of Henry II
“The young lion will overcome the older one,
On the field of combat in a single battle;
He will pierce his eyes through a golden cage,
Two wounds made one, then he dies a cruel death.”
In 1559, King Henry II described as “the older one” was killed by Comte de Montgomery in a jousting contest. Nostradamus warned the king that his death would be cruel. The French king was accidentally wounded by Montgomery with his lance, in two places: a piece of the shattered lance entered the eye and another penetrating his temple. The king suffered for 10 days before succumbing to death.
6. Prediction About Hitler’s Birth & Invasion of France
“From the depths of the West of Europe,
A young child will be born of poor people,
He who by his tongue will seduce a great troop;
His fame will increase towards the realm of the East.”
“Beasts ferocious with hunger will cross the rivers,
The greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister.
Into a cage of iron will the great one be drawn,
When the child of Germany observes nothing.”
The first quote gives a clear picture of Hitler’s birth who was born to poor people. Who later went on to lead the army of Germany. Hitler was born on April 20, 1889. He ruled Germany and moved to World War I with his tongue. The second quote is able to guess the name of Hitler and misses by just one letter. In the second quote, Germany invades France under the leadership of Hitler. Nostradamus was able to predict the country name as Germany and Hitler’s fame increased in Japan which is in East.
5. French Revolution
“From the enslaved populace, songs,
Chants and demands
While princes and lords are held captive in prisons.
These will in the future by headless idiots
Be received as divine prayers.”
In 1789, people of France decided to revolt against the substandard aristocratic rule. The revolution overthrew monarchy, established a republic, experienced violent periods of political turmoil, and finally culminated in a dictatorship under Napoleon. During this time, the country’s peasants as described by Nostradamus as “enslaved populace” took control of Paris. They forced their demands on royalty. The royals who were the aristocrats were dethroned and were locked into Bastille. Bastille is a fortress and prison in Paris. They were beheaded at the guillotine which is mentioned by Nostradamus as “headless idiots“.
4. Louis Pasteur’s Discovery
“The lost thing is discovered, hidden for many centuries.
Pasteur will be celebrated almost as a God-like figure.
This is when the moon completes her great cycle,
But by other rumors he shall be dishonored.“
This is an amazing prediction by Nostradamus. He even mentions the name Pasteur and he will discover the lost thing i.e. the microbial decay. Louis Pasteur is a renowned scientist who is credited with the discovery of microbial decay. The discovery is a remarkable breakthrough in the causes and prevention of diseases, and have saved many lives ever since. He was dishonored in 1995 when the science historian Gerald L. Geison published a story illustrating that Pasteur gave a misleading account on his preparation of the anthrax vaccine.
3. The Great Fire of London
“The blood of the just will be demanded of London
Burnt by fire in the year ’66
The ancient Lady will fall from her high place
And many of the same sect will be killed.“
This event was accurately predicted by Nostradamus with date. On September 2, 1666, a small fire that started in the bakery of Thomas Farriner turned into a three-day blaze. The fire started in Pudding Lane in London. It turned out that few people (around 6) died in the incident which wasn’t reported. 13,200 houses, 87 ptarish churches, St Paul’s Cathedral, and most of the buildings of the City authorities were perished by the great fire. The phrase “The blood of the just” is explained as the millions of flea carrying rats that were burnt and killed in the fire.
2. Atomic Bombing on Hiroshima & Nagasaki
“Near the gates and within two cities
There will be scourges the like of which was never seen,
Famine within plague, people put out by steel,
Crying to the great immortal God for relief.“
In August 1945, atomic bombs were dropped by the United States on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in the islands of Japan. The two cities here are Hiroshima and Nagasaki which were plagued with famine, sufferings and cries after the event. The atomic bomb radiations affected all those who escaped the devastating bombs.
1. Sept. 11, 2001 Terrorist Attack
“Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth
Will cause tremors around the New City.
Two great rocks will war for a long time,
Then Arethusa will redden a new river.“
On September 11, 2001 the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York were attacked by terrorist. Here twin towers resemble two great rocks, the two towers were on fire and collapsed Earthshaking fire from the center of the Earth) and finally new towers were built mentioned as “Then Arethusa will redden a new river” at the same location.
