15 Mysterious Islands Which are Actually Fictions

In the past many years, media like books and televisions have influenced us very much with the creation of many fictional places and characters. Story-tellers, writers and producers have created mysterious places just for “fun”. When you are actually watching or reading these creations, there is a feeling that they are actually a real place. We assume these places to be for real, we assume these characters actually exist, and we also assume sometimes that everything is for real.

Today, we bring you a post on 15 mysterious islands which are actually fictions or imaginary. Most of these islands listed on this article are from movies, TV series, sitcoms and novels. Some of the islands listed are real islands but they do not have any mystery as projected.

15. Skull Island (King Kong Film – 1933)

Skull Island is the mystery island from the 1933 King Kong movie. This island then appeared in many other King Kong series. This island is the home for many extinct species and creatures. The Kong is the only known giant gorilla on this island.

14. Lilliput and Blefuscu (Gulliver’s Travels Book – 1726)

Lemuel Gulliver from the book “Gulliver’s Travels” by Jonathan Swift is known for magically escaping ship wreckage and landing on a mysterious island. Lilliput and Blefuscu are two fictional islands located in the south Indian Ocean as neighbors. These two islands are inhabited by small and tiny people with a mere height of 6 inches. These two islands are known to be full of adventures and surprises to both the people residing there and to Gulliver.

13. Craggy Island (Father Ted Sitcom – 1995)

Craggy Island is a fictional island somewhere in the west coast of Ireland. The setting and plots of the sitcom “Father Ted” takes places on this mystery island. Craggy Island is the home for three priests, who live chaotically together on a parochial house along with their house keeper. These three priests are sent to this island as part of their punishment for different incidents in the past.

12. Summerisle (The Wicker Man Film 1973)

Summerisle is a mysterious and fictional island introduced first in the horror movie “The Wicker Man” in the year 1973. This horror movie is known for its unusual rituals and practices on the Summerisle Island. According to the film, this mystery island lies somewhere in the western coast of Scotland.

This mysterious island is one of my favorite. This island is from the famous movie “Life of Pi” and also in the book. This magical island is in the middle of the ocean which has its own ecosystem and many animals living on it. Pi faces many exciting adventures and magic on this island.

10. Monster island (Destroy All Monsters Film 1968)

Godzilla is the most famous creation on this mysterious Monster Island. Monster Island first appeared in the film “Destroy All Monsters” in the year 1968. “Monster Island” is the island which is inhabited by Godzilla and other monsters. Monster Island became famous in the 60s and 70s because of Godzilla film series.

9. Fantasy Island (Fantasy Island Television Series 1977)

American Broadcasting Company first aired the television series “Fantasy Island” from the year 1977 to 1984. Again the renewed version of the same was aired by the same network from the year 1998-99 seasons. According to its producer company, the “Fantasy Island” is mysteriously located somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. The original series was starred by Ricardo Montalbán as Mr. Roarke. Mr. Roarke uses certain mysterious powers on this island. People from all walks of life can walk down to this island and live out their fantasies for a price.

8. Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar (Jurassic Park Novel 1990)

Isla Sorna and Isla Nublar are the two main islands from the movies, games and books on Jurassic Park. These two islands are part of the group “The Five Deaths”. InGen, a fictional company where the dinosaurs are created is situated on Isla Sorna Island. The newly cloned dinosaurs are nurtured on the same island and are transported to the other island “Isla Nublar”.
